The Tears Of A Broken Heart, Touch The Heart Of God

Selected Excerpts

We, each of us, without exception and regardless of station, at the moment of our entrance into this life, embark upon a journey; a journey of unknown duration, but a journey of unquestionable and inescapable termination—death. It is not a thought which we readily bid enter, or a subject which we willingly entertain. The fact that we attempt to shun all contact with this unwelcome visitor does not, for an instant, alter its reality.

"Of all experiences which life demands, there is, perhaps, none so grave, none so painful, as those born of endeavoring to face and comprehend the inescapable anguish, sorrow, sadness, and overwhelming grief associated with the loss of one dearly loved."

Few are able, and fewer still willing, to grasp the significance and consequence of the dark specter which dwells midst the shadowed regions of each heart and soul; yet none are ever fully unaware of its presence. Many experience the unfettered joys of childhood, and make the transition to adulthood having never felt the icy fingers which ever strain and stretch, drawing nearer and nearer to family, friends, and self until. . . .

"The Gospel of Jesus Christ testifies of faith, hope, and love. Yet, at the moment of death, when the reality of physical separation is made manifest, faith and hope undergo the severest trial and test. It is at this time that an individual's faith may waver, for, we of this world, gazing with the eye of sense, cannot peer beyond that impenetrable veil which separates the seen from the unseen."

To lighten sorrow and heal the wounds of a broken heart—look forward, not backward. Expect and hope, for every teardrop reflects the sun. No human heart, howsoever wounded, continues to bleed. The roughest edges may be smoothed by time; for with time comes understanding, and with understanding—peace. Sorrow is but joy masked, for sorrow is sent that we may clasp more firmly the hand of love. The joy into which sorrow accepted turns, is pure and refining and good.

Jesus knows all about your pain, and will help you bear it if you will but admit Him. He has walked the path you now tread, and He stands ready to take your hand, and gently guide you through those desolate regions spawned of darkness, into the light of knowledge and understanding. He, and He alone, is able to make you truly understand that while all things must pass away, 'tis love only which endures forever and, that it is not merely to give, but to give up, that is the highest crown and glory of love as we may know it.

"There is no pain so great, none which cuts as deep and cleaves nearer the heart, than that born of the loss of one deeply and truly loved. For it is a pain accompanied by an oppressive sorrow which crushes the soul, and a grief which bows the spirit. Yet true love is neither slain by death, nor silenced by separation. To the contrary, death is a furnace which neither destroys nor diminishes the reality of love; a furnace whose flames can neither extinguish love's existence nor lessen its depth, but upon whose forge the dross and extraneous are removed, while purifying that which was and will always be."

A Love Eternal is a very special book; a book which is, as the title implies, a love story; a book which was written while suffering the deepest pain; yet a book which bespeaks the power of love to overcome all obstacles and to endure and persevere throughout seemingly hopeless circumstances.

Open its pages and you will embark upon a journey via the vehicle of personal experience; a journey, through which, you will enter the deepest, blackest vales, scale the steepest mountains, and yet, you will not be alone; for ever by your side walks a loving and compassionate God, hoping to take your hand, if you will but invite Him so to do.

You have suffered the loss of one whom you dearly love and cherish, and you have experienced the indescribable pain which accompanies 'death.' You have reached a turning point in life. Security and complacency have been ever breached. Never more will there exist that feeling of assurance that tomorrow will be as today, for a sense of transience has penetrated, nay, permeated your life; the reality of permanent 'physical separation,' the reality that nothing can be as it was, the reality that nothing can undo that which has been done. Whether a parent, a spouse, a child, or a friend, you now know that 'death' exists and that 'death' is a condition which cannot be long avoided or ignored.

You have experienced the numbing cold, the shock, the confusion, the sense of being lost and without purpose or direction, of not belonging; the pain of a heart which screams and shrieks, a heart which cries and, with exhaustion, sighs; a heart which frantically clutches and grasps at memories long dormant. You desperately seek comfort, compassion, consolation, and, that on which all others reside, understanding. Yet, you withdraw, afraid lest you become too close, too entangled by feelings which may yield additional pain. There is no permanence. Today's friend may be taken from you tomorrow. You do not so much dread being the one called, but you are haunted by the thought of being the one who is left behind. You relive past happiness, traveling to ages long spent when joy, love, and happiness were so intertwined that separation was deemed inconceivable. You dwell midst days when love ever bloomed and hope was reborn with each new sunrise; days in which you were swaddled within the cocoon of love's bliss. Now sunrise and sunset appear indistinguishable from the ever present swirling hues of black and gray.

This is a book which is best read through tear-filled eyes and with a broken, contrite heart; a book devoted in its entirety to the knowledge that true love is a gift of God, and is, therefore,

A Love Eternal —.

You will be taken on a journey through that dark abyss which confronts all who have faced the black void born of death and separation, yet you will not be alone. He who walks by your side is an experienced Guide in the realm of Suffering and Sorrow. Hold tight that nail-scarred hand, for He will lead you past the landmarks of Pain and Anguish into that land where Love ever resides, and, with open arms, awaits your arrival.

Heed that still, small voice, for His words awaken and free the spirit that it may soar unencumbered of the bonds of flesh by which they of this world are chained.

As you travel the pages, gaze through the eyes of the soul—not the senses, and listen with the heart, —if it is indeed, truth which you seek. Withdraw from the tumult of this world; forsake the temptations, disturbances, and petty annoyances. Know that God is the only reality, all else is but shadow. Let your heart seek Christ and cleave to Him.

A Love Eternal opens a window through which death may be viewed, not as an ending, —but a beginning. While not a panacea, —a cure-all, it is a powerful palliative, containing equal parts compassion, grace, mercy, empathy, and the experiences of one who has deeply loved and lost the physical presence of love's object.

It is a book which bespeaks faith and hope, while increasing your understanding of God's Eternal Love; a book which provides comforting answers to the universal question: 'Why?'

Lovingly written from a purely Christian perspective, it contains an ethereal beauty and heavenly wisdom which cross the boundaries of creed, sex, race, and religious/denominational affiliation.

Although neither a scientific treatise, nor a theological discourse, it is a melody of God's boundless truths, tenderly, hauntingly, and eloquently performed on the sublime strings of Eternity's Heart.

Be forewarned that no words formed by mortal man hold the power to bind the wounds of a heart once broken. No scientific or psychological formulations which expound the various stages of grief will avail. Platitudes graciously given, do but briefly stir the stagnant air of sorrow. Such healing is the singular domain of Almighty God.

A Love Eternal is but a door of hope through which the touch of God may be felt. Let it transport you to that place of tranquillity where the still waters and green meadows afford comfort and solace, —a refuge from the storm; a balm for the soul.
